We understand that your pet is a member of your family and that saying goodbye can be heartbreaking. At Companion Crafts, we can work with a variety of photo references to create a beautiful memorial portrait of your pet. While having multiple high-quality photos is ideal, we can still create a wonderful portrait even if you only have a few blurry photos.

We take immense care in making sure everything on the painting is as close to accurate as can be, even with low quality photos. We will work closely with you to ensure that we capture the essence of your pet and create a lasting tribute that will bring you comfort for years to come. It is beneficial for both the artist and the client to have the best quality photos of the pet to base the painting off of. The best pictures of your pet will be in photos taken outdoors if possible, or those with indirect natural lighting. Get down to the pet’s eye level when taking photos, and try using their favorite toy and squeaking or shaking it to get them to make a curious/interested expression!

Here are a couple questions to ask yourself before you submit reference photos:

• Does the pet look happy (or) does this photo show the pet’s true personality?

• Are the pet’s eyes clear and reflecting light? (No red eye)

• Are the colors shown in the picture accurate to the pet’s appearance in real life? (i.e. no tint or color cast on the photo. Yellow tints in low light are very common.)

• Is there any harsh lighting or harsh shadows on the pet? (Overly bright spots, over saturated, “white out” spots, noise, dark areas, etc. You'll want to avoid these.)

The amount of reference pictures you can submit in for your pet is virtually limitless! Before starting a portrait, we always check in with our clients about what photos we feel are the best ones to choose from. The goal is to make sure that we have a great photo to work with that really represents the pet well!

The time it takes to complete a portrait varies depending on the size and complexity of the piece. Typically once started, a portrait can take anywhere from a few days to 4 weeks to complete. However, we will provide you with an estimated completion date before we begin the painting process. We strive to deliver high-quality artwork in a timely manner, and we will keep you updated on the progress of your portrait throughout the process. It is important to discuss your timeline with the artist prior to commissioning a portrait to ensure that your expectations can be met.

We currently ship our portrait paintings to customers within the United States, and a large majority of our products include free shipping! For larger or custom products, our shipping rates and delivery times vary based on your location, but we aim to provide affordable and efficient shipping options to all of our customers. Absolutely! We understand that purchasing original artwork can be a big investment. That's why we offer a payment plan option for orders over $200 to make it more affordable for our clients. Our payment plan allows you to make a 25% deposit at the time of purchase, and then pay the remaining balance over a predetermined period with no additional fees or interest charges. To set up a payment plan, simply contact us and we will work with you to determine a payment schedule that works best for you! Please note that the painting will not be started until the final payment is made and all payments are nonrefundable.

At Companion Crafts, we want our customers to be completely satisfied with their purchase. That's why we check in every step of the way and work closely with the wants and needs of our customers throughout the entirety of the painting process. We also check in one final time to make sure everything looks great before we ship the portrait. Most of our customers remark that their painting looks even better than the photos when it arrives home to them!

Due to the custom nature of our products, all sales are final and we do not offer refunds. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your painting, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will work with you to try and make it right. If your portrait has been damaged by the shipper, please contact us as soon as possible and provide photos of what happened.

Please note that return shipping costs for artist amendments are the responsibility of the customer, and the items must be returned in secure packaging with trackable shipping.
